Ending Life on the Streets

CCI's holistic, goal oriented life-plan approach addresses the specific issues that manifest homelessness in an individual's life. Only by identifying and addressing these key drivers of our homeless can we mentor, rebuild, and reshape each person's life on a path to a wholesome and productive future.

In the 1980s, the US government estimated the homeless population to be as high as 500,000, and recent HUD statistics indicate 640,000. Still, others indicate the number may be as high as 2,000,000. In a recent 12-month period studied by HUD, 1 in 200 persons in the US used the shelter system.

The causes of homelessness are many, including: mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, unemployment, prisoner release, poverty, and many more.

With the causes of homelessness for each individual being multiple and varied, collaboration among various agencies and organizations has become a human services delivery necessity. The number of people requiring services is on the rise and the resources to provide assistance must be used efficiently and to the fullest advantage of those in need.
