Achievement and a Lifetime of Learning
Stabilizing the lives of both students and their families will significantly increase the chances for student success.
In a study by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, they found that millions of children across the country entering fourth grade don't read proficiently and are at a greater risk of dropping out of high school. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, people with a high school degree or GED earn an average of $180 more per week than those who did not finish high school. Also, a recent University of Chicago report stated adults without a high school diploma or post-secondary education are more likely to be incarcerated.
CCI toolsets have been a key component in the success of the Minneapolis, MN high poverty area "cradle to college" Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ) initiative (a recent Promise Nieghborhood Award winner), as well as the Rockford, IL Truancy Intervention Initiative.
Working early with at risk children greatly increases their chances for academic success and a better, healthier life. Collaboration with schools and school systems, families, mentors, and faith-based initiatives provides the vehicle and the road map to provide better, brighter futures for our youth and our communities.
